Congress Debates Afghanistan War
8 Mass Reps. Vote in Favor of Ending War
Capitol

Rep. Kucinich's privileged resolution invoking the War Powers Act forced three hours of debate in the US House on March  10th.  Although it failed to pass, all but two of our Mass. delegation voted in favor of ending the war.  Please thank Rep. Capuano, an original co-sponsor, as well as those who voted yes (Reps. McGovern, Tierney, Frank, Olver, Neal, Markey and Tsongas).

Congressional Switchboard:  202-224-3121

Please contact Reps. Delahunt and Lynch, who voted no, and tell them that you'd like your tax dollars spent on heathcare and education instead of a failed war.

Check out the text of the resolution and UJP's coverage of the vote.

Ask Obama for a Military Spending Freeze

President Obama announced in his State of the Union Address that he will be freezing spending - except for the military budget.  Tell President Obama to cut funding for the military instead of  de-funding human needs.

Great news on cutting weapons spending!

The Senate recently voted to halt spending $1,750,000,000.00
on wasteful, egregious F-22 weapons!

no bombs

The House followed up with an amendment to stop the F-22's too!

Help us push for federal budget priorities that meet human needs instead of funding more weapons and war.
